The new venue marks a significant milestone for the growing Dubai skate scene, offering skaters a dedicated indoor space designed for riders of all levels. With its concrete ramps, rails and street-style obstacles, the park provides a professional environment where beginners and experienced skaters can practise tricks, improve their skills and connect with the wider skateboarding community.

Unlike traditional outdoor parks, the indoor setting means skateboarding can continue year-round, even during Dubai’s intense summer heat.

A new home for Dubai’s skate community

Gooder Skatepark was founded by Maysam Faraj and Ali El Ali, two figures deeply connected to the region’s skate culture.

The project was designed by Studio Pheasant, an award-winning studio known for its connection to skate culture, while construction was completed by Latvian skatepark specialists Mind Work.

The design reflects the origins of Dubai’s street skateboarding culture, with obstacles inspired by the urban environments where many local skaters first learned the sport.

Smooth concrete surfaces, rails and ramps create an authentic street-style skating experience, whether visitors are learning their first ollie or practising advanced tricks.

Inspired by Dubai’s history and Middle Eastern culture

Beyond the skating features, the skatepark includes a striking central fountain space inside the warehouse, giving the venue a unique architectural element.

The design draws inspiration from Dubai’s historic Deira Memorial Fountain as well as traditional Syrian courtyard architecture.

For co-founder Maysam Faraj, the inspiration is deeply personal. He spent time skateboarding around the Deira Fountain during the late 1990s, a place that was once a popular gathering spot for skateboarders in Dubai.

The concept also reflects his cultural background, blending Middle Eastern design influences with modern skate culture.

More than just a skatepark

Gooder Skatepark is designed as more than just a place to skate. The large warehouse space at Alserkal Avenue includes several community-focused areas.

Visitors can enjoy:

  • A retail store selling skate gear and merchandise

  • An exhibition space located upstairs

  • A community lounge area where guests can work, relax or watch the skating action

  • Food and drink options inside the venue

The community area can also be transformed for events, making the space a hub for Dubai’s creative and youth culture scene.

The story behind the name “Gooder”

The unusual name of the skatepark has already caught people’s attention.

According to co-founder Faraj, the name comes from a phrase often used at Habibi Skate Shop, his earlier online skateboarding venture.

The saying was simple:
“Skateboarding is good, skateboarding with friends is gooder.”

That spirit of community and friendship is central to the idea behind the new park.

Skateboarding culture continues to grow in Dubai

With Dubai’s youth culture evolving rapidly, spaces like Gooder Skatepark are expected to play a key role in supporting the next generation of skaters.

Located inside the creative district of Alserkal Avenue, the park brings together sport, art and community under one roof — giving skaters a place to ride, meet friends and be part of a growing scene.
