His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai visited today Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. It emphasized the UAE’s intention to continue to elevate its standing as a travel destination, backed by well-developed transport facilities and hardworking Emirati people.
During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed pointed to the UAE’s ongoing endeavours to strengthen its position as a global leader across industries and sectors, using exclusive strengths and opportunities for the successful development of the country’s potential. He highlighted the strengths of the UAE travel and tourism industry and called for continuous work to enhance UAE’s standing in the global and strengthen its development model based on people’s well-being and happiness agenda.
Present during the inauguration were His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE among others. They learned that Zayed International Airport is one of the largest airports in the world in terms of size covering 74. 2 hectare and can accommodate up to 45 million passengers per year.
The visit also included the sophisticated facilities at the Zayed International Airport which was this year renamed in memory of the UAE’s founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Thus, he strengthened the role of the UAE and its competitiveness to enhance its position on the international stage.
Sheikh Mohammed learned about different aspects of the airport by visiting the Etihad Airways’ First-Class Lounge and being give an insight into the performance of Terminal A. This terminal can accommodate 79 planes at a time and 11,000 passengers per hour, which further cements Abu Dhabi as an international aviation center. He noted several sustainability initiatives in Terminal A which guarantees a good experience to the passengers.
