Artificial intelligence is currently being adopted by schools across the UAE to positively impact the learning environments of the schools. In the recent past, His Royal Highness, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, declared intentions of enhancing the use of AI skills with educators. This initiative is meant to assist teachers so they can spend more time on the learners since their workload would be lighter. Researchers have discovered that educators are already using AI solutions in tasks such as lesson planning, functional work, or individual remarks to students.
Baz Nijjar, the Gems Education’s Senior Director of Educational Technology also adds that, the realistic ways that AI provides support is through the enhancement of the planning process as well as differentiation of activities. Their “Teachers Lead Teachers” program enables trainings of other teachers, we see the practical use of AI applications that minimize the work of teachers. Joseph Nettikaden of Esol Education explain that the benefit of lesson plans developed with AI is time savings to facilitate focused on personal aspects such as interpersonal communication and collaboration.
John Bell of Bloom World Academy ‘affirms the need to teach concepts in AI and how to apply them especially in Planning and delivering Lessons’. This shift is beneficial in that teachers are able to explore new and enhanced methods of teaching rather than being wrapped up with paperwork. However, AI equally helps in prevention of cheating in academics, as noted by Bell, intellectual values and honesty need to be imparted.
Taaleem uses an AI task force by Glenn Radojkovich where, apart from using feedback and planning support, it also uses AI to prevent cases of plagiarism. The outlined strategy helps ensure that AI is implemented in a proper manner, helping to improve the learning process while adhering to the set ethics.
