Dubai is known for changing its skyline gradually and the new generation of mega-projects to be launched is even more futuristic. As the city that brought the world the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah it’s not surprising that the city still has ambitions with several major projects ongoing. Here we present five projects in Dubai that have stirred a lot of controversy and will be part of the impressive landscape of the city soon.

1. Al Maktoum International Airport:
First opened in the year 2010, The Al Maktoum International Airport quite famously, is expected to be the largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. Proposed developments call for Dubai airport to handle 260 million passengers a year and there is an entire city under construction at Dubai South. Although DXB airport will be replaced in the operation by 2030, its total development along with the areas around it may take until 2050.

2. Dubai World Islands:
First discussed in 2003, the World Islands project is now up and running courtesy of luxury villas. Among them is the Heart of Europe where such installations as the Raining Street in the Côte d’Azur Monaco Hotel are opened. Future projects are Honeymoon Island and Marbella Resort Hotel that will provide guests with the extraordinary luxurious vacations in the vicinity of Dubai.

3. Jebel Ali Palm:
It remains to note that the construction of the Jebel Ali Palm project was stopped for a long time, and now it has been revived with a new plan: the area of the project is to be two times larger than that of Palm Jumeirah. This project of Nakheel will be strategically located along the coast of Dubai, stretching up to 13. 4km in total; the development will comprise over 80 hotels, residents and freeholders’ facilities, beach clubs and even a ‘celebration village. ’

4. The Island:
This place that is inspired by Las Vegas is situated off Jumeirah and will include hotels such as MGM, Bellagio and Aria. Apart from restaurants, it will comprise cafes, lagoons along with an entertainment zone and will further amplify the sheen of Dubai’s hospitality industry.

5. Six Senses Dubai Marina:
This 122-storey building will be the tallest residential building in the world and will contain among other things, luxury apartments and health conscious facilities. Estimated to be complete by 2028; it will revolutionise the concept of height in Dubai Marina.
