Dubai Customs Launches Vocational Programme to Empower Young Emiratis in the Logistics Sector

Initiative aligns with Dubai’s economic and social agendas to boost Emirati involvement in logistics

Dubai Customs, which is a division of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation has launched a vocational training programme that it expects to attract young Emiratis to take up careers in the logistics industry. This programme aims at preparing the Emirati youths for the kinds of opportunities they need to embrace in what remains one of the future economic powerhouse in Dubai. This programme will enhance the participants’ education standards to advance level and field training with potential to support sustainable development and integrate them into private sector.

It supports all of Dubai’s objectives in general, especially the ‘Dubai Economic Agenda D33’ and ‘Dubai Social Agenda 33,’ initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It provides support to endeavors aimed at Boosting The Emiratisation Representation in the Private Sector to improve productivity and overall contribution to the economy. Praising the programme role in developing the future generation of workforce and enshrining the future economy which is self-reliant and financially independent future generation of the nationals, His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi, the CEO of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation underscored.

HE Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Director General of Dubai Customs remarked that the programme falls under developing the leadership talent management for young Emirati’s. He said that Dubai Customs is keen to offer a creative and positive work environment with talent development to address the current and future conditions of the world. Future strategies are also being set for the growth of the learning and development initiative in consultation with the partners so that it can benefit the most.

The programme will comprise both theoretical and practical components held at the facilities of Dubai Customs with the purpose of graduating competent professionals, capable of generating optimum results in the sphere of logistics. Mohammed Al Ghaffari, a Suit Executive Director of the Human Resources Sector was confident about the possibilities of the sector to provide the young nationals with opportunities to establish themselves in the job market successfully.
