Burj Khalifa Set to Lose Title as World’s Tallest Tower with Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower Project

Work has restarted on the mega Jeddah Tower in KSA to reclaim the tallest building record from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Burj Khalifa since 2010 which is 828 meter tall. However, Jeddah Tower also called Jeddah Economic Company Tower being currently under construction is expected to be over 1000m hence the first structure to cross a Kilometer.

This mega-project was first initiated over ten years ago though it has been redesigned several times but Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal recently confirmed the continuation of the project through the social networks. The tower currently stands at 63 stories and with further 157 upon completion it will be the most towering structure in the city of Jeddah. The cost of the project, which is yet to be completed, is expected to be more than AED 700 million dollars (Dhs 700m) out of which Dhs 100 million has already been incurred.

Adrian Smith of Chicago, the architect who has designed Burj Khalifa, drew the Jeddah Tower that forms a part of a 5.3 million square meter development project. By the time its construction is complete in 2028, it expects to revolutionize the world’s record in skyscrapers and architectural innovation. For now, burj Khalifa stands as the tallest building to the world but it is ushering out in just a few years.
