The inaugural Dubai AI & Web3 Festival concluded on a high note, drawing more than 6,800 visitors from over 100 countries to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on 11–12 September 2024. Held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the two-day event established itself as a flagship platform for AI and Web3 innovation in the region.

A Global Stage for AI and Web3

Co-hosted by Dubai's AI Campus, the DIFC, and the UAE's Minister of State for AI, the festival brought together more than 100 exhibitors to showcase real-world AI and Web3 business applications. Attendees ranged from government agency heads and SME owners to academics, employees, and job seekers from industries of the future.

The breadth of participation underscored Dubai's ambition to be more than a financial hub — it wants to be the world's go-to destination for emerging technology talent and investment.

Dubai AI Campus: 120 Organisations and Counting

DIFC Authority CEO Arif Amiri used the event to highlight the rapid momentum behind the Dubai AI Campus. Speaking at the festival, he confirmed that the campus had already attracted more than 120 organisations within its first year of operation — a strong early signal for a project targeting 500 organisations and 3,000 new jobs by 2028.

Amiri also announced two major initiatives: a first-of-its-kind Dubai AI Licence, designed to make it easier for AI companies to set up in the emirate, and an 'AI as a Service' concept that will help businesses assess AI readiness, identify opportunities, and develop implementation strategies.

Deals, Competitions, and Regulation Talks

The festival was not just a showcase — it was a deal-making arena. Memoranda of Understanding were signed with Dubai Civil Defence, Visa, Zurich, and other organisations, unlocking new pathways for AI and Web3 deployment across sectors.

The Future Tech World Cup, a competition to push the boundaries of industry transformation, featured entries from AI and Web3 firms competing to redefine how technology shapes business. Panels and discussions covering AI regulation, compliance, and AI-driven business transformation rounded out the programme.

What Comes Next

With its inaugural edition declared a success, the Dubai AI & Web3 Festival is already planning its second edition for November 2025. Organisers have set an ambitious target: by 2027, the event aims to rank among the world's largest AI gatherings globally — a goal that, given Dubai's track record of scaling tech ambitions fast, few would bet against.
