Dubai Police's AI-enabled radar systems are now monitoring a comprehensive list of traffic violations across the emirate, with fines reaching AED 3,000 and vehicle impoundments of up to 60 days. The General Department of Traffic delivered the full details at a press conference on March 5, 2025, covering every offence, its corresponding fine, impoundment period, and black points.

Lane Discipline and Road Behaviour
Failure to stay in a mandatory lane results in an AED 400 fine. For heavy vehicles, the penalty rises to AED 1,500 with 12 black points. Driving against traffic flow attracts an AED 600 fine, a 7-day vehicle impoundment, and 4 black points.
Improper shoulder use carries an AED 1,000 fine, 30-day vehicle impoundment, and 6 black points. Stopping in the middle of a motorway also results in an AED 1,000 fine and 6 black points.
Distracted and Unsafe Driving
Mobile phone use while driving results in an AED 800 fine and 4 black points. Failure to wear a seatbelt carries an AED 400 fine and 4 black points.
Excessive window tinting is subject to an AED 1,500 fine. Additional violations related to unsafe following distance, noisy or modified vehicles, and failure to give way to pedestrians also attract both fines and black points under the AI radar system.
Why Dubai Police AI Radar Matters for Road Safety
The rollout of AI-enabled radar enforcement reflects Dubai's broader push to reduce traffic accidents through technology. By automating the detection of multiple offence types simultaneously — from speeding to distracted driving — the system removes human error from enforcement and ensures consistent penalties across all roads.
Drivers are notified of fines via SMS and email, and all penalties can be viewed and paid through the Dubai Police portal.
