His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, visited GITEX GLOBAL 2024, the biggest technology and startup show globally took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre. To be held between October 14 and 18, the fair attracted over 6 500 exhibitors from more than 180 countries and focused on the Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed on Dubai’s vision of becoming a leader in artificial intelligence and technology to foster the country’s further development, as he said, “The UAE is preparing for the future, with strategic investments in industries including AI that define the UAE’s next wave of growth. GITEX GLOBAL is proof for our vision how we want to further improve the status of UAE in the context of the world’s technological industry.”

During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed went round several pavilions from prominent tech firms including Etisalat, Huawei and Microsoft to discuss the latest in AI and the latest in cloud computing development. This he did in the company of the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama and other officials.

As most speakers underlined, the event, in which the number of international participants has grown by 40%, is an important part of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 which implies doubling the GDP of the emirate by 2033. GITEX GLOBAL 2024 has become the point of reference for all AI content with more than 120 hours and technological innovation.
