As individual markets struggle to attract the specialized talent demanded by the fast-growing AI industry, the UAE is positioning itself as the world's premier destination for artificial intelligence development and investment. That momentum will be on full display at GITEX GLOBAL 2024, the world's largest tech and startup show, scheduled in Dubai from October 14–18.
More than 6,500 exhibitors and 200,000 technology professionals from 180 countries are expected to converge on Dubai World Trade Centre to discuss the opportunities and challenges of an AI-driven global economy.
Surging Global AI Investment Creates Urgency
Industry analysts agree that the race to lead in AI has never been more competitive. According to Goldman Sachs research, global AI investments are expected to reach $200 billion by 2025, while generative AI alone could be worth up to $1.3 trillion by 2032. Companies across every sector are scrambling to retain their competitive advantage as AI becomes an indispensable enabler of productivity and economic growth.
Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Abu Dhabi-based AI enterprise Presight, captured the stakes in a recent interview: "The functions of AI will only improve in the next five to ten years to create better and faster solutions to difficult problems and serve the society better."
Dubai AI Strategy Targets $27.2 Billion Economic Boost
The UAE has taken a distinctly forward-looking approach to this global shift — and Dubai has led the charge. Under the Dubai AI Strategy, the emirate is applying artificial intelligence across every major sector including government services, tourism, healthcare, finance, and education. The strategy targets adding $27.2 billion annually to Dubai's economy and increasing productivity by 50 percent.
These initiatives directly support the UAE's broader National AI Strategy 2031 — the country's vision to become a global AI manufacturing and innovation center by the end of the decade.
GITEX 2024 Brings Global AI Leaders to Dubai
The GITEX GLOBAL 2024 edition will feature leading global AI companies including Google, Meta, Nvidia, and OpenAI, alongside UAE-based innovators such as Presight and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) — the Abu Dhabi research institute behind the open-source Falcon large language models.
Together, these participants will demonstrate how AI is transforming industries from healthcare and finance to education and public services.
UAE at the Center of the Global AI Economy
With its strategic vision, world-class infrastructure, and proactive government policy, the UAE has placed itself firmly at the center of the global AI evolution. As investment flows accelerate and the talent race intensifies, Dubai's positioning as a global AI hub looks set only to strengthen.
