The World Future Energy Summit 2025 (WFES) will return to Abu Dhabi from 14 to 16 January 2025, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) as a centrepiece of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). Organised with the support of Masdar, the summit will convene international CEOs and executives to tackle the most pressing issues in energy and sustainability — from the Middle East's emergence as a global clean-energy powerhouse to the transformative role of artificial intelligence across the energy value chain.

Middle East Clean Energy Investment Takes Centre Stage

WFES 2025 will build directly on the momentum of the 2024 edition, examining how the Middle East is leading global clean-energy investment. The region has committed to spending nearly $75.63 billion in renewable power by 2030, signalling one of the most ambitious infrastructure pipelines in the world.

The UAE's contribution is particularly significant. The country plans to raise its clean-energy share of total generation capacity from 27.83% to 32% by 2030, backed by a growing portfolio of solar parks, waste-to-energy facilities, and other large-scale green projects. The UAE had already more than doubled its renewable capacity between 2019 and 2022, achieving 70% growth in 2023 alone to reach 6.1 GW — momentum that WFES 2025 will look to accelerate further.

AI in Energy: A Dedicated Focus at WFES 2025

Artificial intelligence will receive a specific and prominent focus at the summit. Executives from across the global energy sector will explore AI applications in energy utilisation, demand prediction, and overall generation efficiency — areas where the technology is already beginning to reshape operations at utilities and grid operators alike.

As AI adoption accelerates worldwide, the energy sector faces both the challenge of powering data-hungry AI infrastructure and the opportunity to deploy AI tools to optimise generation, cut waste, and balance increasingly complex grids. WFES 2025 brings both sides of that equation into the same room.

400-Plus Companies, 350 Speakers Across Six Tracks

The summit will host more than 400 global companies and 350 industry speakers across conference tracks covering sustainable cities, green finance, hydrogen, water and food security, waste management, and clean energy pathways. Participants include leading organisations such as DEWA, ACWA Power, Tadweer, BEEAH, and the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, alongside Masdar as host.

Six exhibition zones — spanning solar, waste, water, clean energy, smart cities, and climate — will run alongside the conference programme, giving innovators and investors direct access to breakthrough technologies and strategic partnerships.

A Platform for UAE's Global Sustainability Leadership

As a platform for innovation and cooperation, WFES 2025 sets ambitious objectives for strengthening the future of the energy sector — and for positioning UAE governmental efforts within the broader context of worldwide sustainable development. The summit follows the landmark outcomes of COP28, held in Dubai in late 2023, which set the global stage for accelerated energy transition commitments.

With the Middle East investing at record levels in clean energy and Abu Dhabi emerging as a hub for sustainability innovation, WFES 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment for the region — and for the global energy transition.
