Early Life
Van Damme was born on October 18, 1960, in a district of Sint-Agatha-Berchem of Brussels, Belgium, to Eliana and Eugène Van Varenberg. He started practicing Shotokan karate at the age of ten, and ever since then, he has a black belt to attest to it. Aside from modelling, acting, and world travel, Van Damme was also trained in kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo and ballet.
Career
Theatre acting was the next career which Van Damme decided to try another strike, this time to the United States in 1982. He came onto the limelight with the movie Bloodsport in 1988, and shot into prominence with other action films in the later part of the 1980s and 1990s. , his promising first few years in cinema gave way to a string of commercial failures in the late 1990s and early 2000s before he delivered a comeback performance in JCVD (2008). He has performed in more films and TV productions with the recent ones being The Expendables 2 in 2012 and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, a web television series that aired for one season in 2016-2017.

He has been married since five times to four women and he has fathered three children.
