Abu Dhabi World Art Day celebrations are not a one-day affair this year. The capital has extended its cultural programming well into April and May, with major exhibitions, documentary screenings, hands-on studio sessions and a brand-new museum pass still active across the city. For residents and visitors looking for a cultural plan right now, the agenda is very much alive.
Picasso Still Leads the Conversation at Louvre Abu Dhabi
A headline draw keeping the Abu Dhabi World Art Day celebrations in focus is Picasso, the Figure at Louvre Abu Dhabi, running until May 31, 2026. The exhibition examines Pablo Picasso's treatment of the human form through works presented in collaboration with Musée national Picasso-Paris, with additional loans from the Louvre and regional collections.
The museum has also scheduled Young Picasso for April 25, 2026, with the documentary screening at 7pm in the auditorium. Louvre Abu Dhabi lists the screening as free to attend for guests aged 18 and above, with valid ID required.
Weekly Picasso-inspired student workshops run on Thursdays, and the museum's Art in Scents immersive experience continues on Thursdays and Saturdays — adding further depth to the Louvre programme across this extended World Art Day period.
Manarat Al Saadiyat and Cultural Foundation Keep It Hands-On
The extended programme reaches beyond headline exhibitions. At Manarat Al Saadiyat, the Art Studio continues with hands-on activity through classes, workshops and drop-in sessions for students, adults, children and families. Highlights include textile masterclasses, mixed media workshops for children, and daily drop-in sessions covering ceramics, painting and printmaking.
At Cultural Foundation, the calendar features a major retrospective dedicated to Shezad Dawood. The exhibition Skin of Dreams opened on April 9, 2026 and is scheduled to run until September 20, 2026, according to Experience Abu Dhabi. Alongside that show, the Foundation lists workshops in Arabic calligraphy, Islamic geometric patterns, oil and acrylic painting, mosaic and ceramics.
A New Museum Pass Adds Another Reason to Go Now
There is a fresh incentive for anyone planning a museum day on Saadiyat Island. Abu Dhabi has introduced the Saadiyat Cultural District Museum Pass, covering Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi under a single ticket. Reporting from The National confirms that prices start at Dh120 for two museums and Dh170 for three, valid for 30 days from first use, with children under 18 entering free with every pass.
Why Abu Dhabi World Art Day Matters Beyond April 15
Abu Dhabi World Art Day celebrations give residents and tourists fresh reasons to visit the city's cultural hotspots well beyond the official date. This extended run provides a stronger cultural calendar for the second half of April and beyond, with programming that suits casual visitors, families, students and serious art audiences alike.
With Picasso still on view, a free documentary screening on the horizon, practical studio sessions at Manarat Al Saadiyat, and a Shezad Dawood retrospective now open at Cultural Foundation, Abu Dhabi's World Art Day momentum is still very much active. The new Museum Pass makes it easier than ever to turn a cultural day on Saadiyat into a full itinerary without the cost of multiple tickets.
