Dubai's calendar of major exhibitions is ramping up fast, and anyone who has driven past Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) during a large-scale event knows what follows: packed halls, full car parks, and slow-moving traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road. Whether you plan to attend or simply commute nearby, knowing what's coming can save real time and frustration.

Long-Term Fix: Expo City Dubai Expansion
To ease the growing pressure on DWTC and surrounding roads, all large exhibitions will eventually move to Expo City Dubai as part of a 10-billion-dirham expansion project expected to be delivered in phases by 2033. The shift will double Dubai's capacity for large-scale events — from 300 to 600 annually.
In parallel, the Trade Centre Roundabout is undergoing a major transformation, including removal of the roundabout structure and construction of five new bridges. The works are causing some additional disruption now, but once complete they will cut travel times significantly across the district.
Pro tip: If you need to be in the area during an event, consider visiting nearby restaurants or cafes during peak exhibition hours and heading home after the evening rush subsides.
