Where to Watch Tonight’s Blue Supermoon in Dubai: A Rare Celestial Event

Staring tonight Monday August 19th up to Wednesday August 21st, a blue supermoon will be visible in the night sky of Dubai and the UAE. For sky gazers the moon will be larger and brighter than it will do for some time, due to the fact that it is closer to earth than usual.

Supermoon is going to be seen first at about 8PM tonight. On Tuesday, the idea will be even more pronounced as it comes on the giant moon day when the moon looks 15 percent larger and has 28 percent more brightness to the naked eye.

The term Blue Supermoon is usually used in two contexts.

There are Blue Moons of two kinds. Seasonal blue moon as we are to experience this week means the third full moon of a period with four full moons. The better-known monthly blue moon is when there are two full moons or more in a given month. In fact, the blue supermoon will not be blue, but that is the name given to this phenomenon. Its etymology goes back to the 16th century, and it could be derived from an Old English expression for an event which rarely happens.

This is why; top spot to watch the Supermoon in the UAE.

  • Al Barsha Pond Park: This park remains opened to 11:30PM and it features illuminated walkway/playing fields an ideal place for a night stroll.
  • Al Qudra Lakes: For those with a 4×4, this place lays beyond the city lights and it offers a very good view of the night sky.
  • Hatta: Back yourself into the Hajar mountains for few hours of remote view and also for camping options.
  • Jebel Ali Beach: This is a free public beach and is an excellent place to spread a blanket for a picnic whilst enjoying the moon rise over the ocean.
  • Kite Beach: Go for a romantic walk at night or have a dinner at one of the cafes located at the shore.
  • Dubai Creek Harbour’s Viewing Point: This 70-metre long bridge allows one to view the moon alongside Dubai’s skyline.
  • Al Quaa Milky Way Spot (Abu Dhabi): A deserted area in the desert that offers no obstacles to gazers that want to stay up all night.

The excitement and the scenery over the city, from events, moving on to this blue super moon before it will disappear on Wednesday.
