Dubai residents will enjoy a four-day Eid Al Adha 2025 holiday from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8, giving the city one of its most anticipated long weekends of the year. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) both confirmed the dates, with work resuming on Monday, June 9.
Confirmed Eid Al Adha 2025 Holiday Dates in Dubai
The four-day UAE public holiday runs from Thursday, June 5 through Sunday, June 8, 2025. The holiday covers:
- Arafat Day — the 9th of Dhu Al Hijjah, marking the eve of Eid - Eid Al Adha — celebrated from the 10th through the 12th of Dhu Al Hijjah
Both the public and private sectors observe the same dates, making this a unified long weekend across the UAE.
How the Islamic Calendar Determines the Holiday
Eid Al Adha falls on a different Gregorian date each year because the Islamic Hijri Calendar follows lunar cycles. Each month in the Hijri calendar may be 29 or 30 days, depending on the moon sighting. UAE authorities typically confirm the exact dates shortly before the holiday begins, once the crescent moon is officially sighted.
Arafat Day on the 9th of Dhu Al Hijjah marks the opening of the Eid Al Adha holiday, which runs through Dhu Al Hijjah 12. Early forecasts had suggested dates of either June 5–8 or June 6–9, and the official announcement confirmed the earlier window.
Why These Holidays Are Always Protected
Under the UAE's 2025 public holiday law, most public holidays may be transferred to the nearest Sunday or Monday if they fall on a weekend. However, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha are exempt from this rule — they are always observed on their actual dates, regardless of where they fall on the weekly calendar.
The government grants four paid vacation days around Eid Al Adha so residents across the country can celebrate, travel, or rest with family.
Making the Most of the Long Weekend
With a confirmed Thursday-to-Sunday break, Dubai residents have several options for the Eid Al Adha 2025 long weekend: short trips abroad, staycations at UAE hotels, family gatherings, or simply enjoying the slower pace of the city during the holidays. Hotels and airlines typically see strong demand around this period, so booking early is advisable.
Residents should continue to monitor official government channels for any updates, though the June 5–8 dates are now confirmed for both sectors.
