Kuwait and China Discuss Mubarak Port and Megaprojects

Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya had pluriannual dialogue with Chinese counterparts to boost cooperation, and implement large-scale infrastructure ventures. This has been said in a one day meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, Mr Zhang Jianwei and a group of Chinese officials from China’s Ministry of Commerce, MOFCOM at its headquarters.

The most relevant topics discussed were in the spheres of developing bilateral relations and cooperation between Kuwait and China, where the accent was made on the relations both in general and at every level, as well as in the different fields. During the visits, both sides outlined directions for developing technical cooperation, development, and economic relations, primarily concerning the implementation of large-scale development projects in Kuwait. On this topic they also talked about ideas and attitudes of advertising and creating common strategic projects such as the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port.

Regarding to that, it is noteworthy to know that they plan to hold several Arab leaders in Beijing this week in order to attend the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Some of the delegation expected include Egyptian leaders, Bahrain leaders, Tunisian leaders, and the United Arabic Emirates leaders. These leaders will be meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping via one-on-one talks with the heads of state to discuss the relations of their countries as well as the regional matters of concern.

Reasonable dialogue: The forum is expected to strengthen cooperation and understanding between China and Arab countries and deal with issues like the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Presently, China has eagerly responded to engage the Arab states and has even considered itself as a friend in the dispute in the Middle East or Arab world such as the Palestinian- Israeli conflict. President Xi has called for peace talks with reference to the international level and supports recognition of two states.
