According to Dr. Lubna Al-Qadi, Head of the Women’s Studies and Research Center at Kuwait University, Kuwait has the highest literacy rate of female employees this year, 2023 out of all GCC countries at 57. 9%. This figure was mentioned while delivering her comments at Annual Gulf Research Forum’s fourteenth session on the dynamics of migration in the GCC.
Is this organization statement more neutral? Dr. Al Qadi focused on the importance of educated women in Kuwait’s economy and shed light on some of the new policies adopted in this regard recently. As to lab outlines: for instance, the retirement age of women was increased and is now 53 instead of previous 50, thus women are expected to remain active in labor market for longer period.
In response to the requirement for the creation of favorable organizational climate for young married women workers, Dr. Al-Qadi recommended adoption of policies on conjugality in the private sectors in order to encourage young married women to continue with their working careers. Here she pointed out that continuing calls for employment of women improve on productivity as well as cut on the use of migrant employees.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Qadi emphasized the necessity to promote initiatives of this nature for enhancing Kuwait’s rankings in relation to Gender, and the business and legal environment for women according to the World Bank and the World Economic Forum indices. These efforts remains important especially towards the enhancement of Kuwait’s position in the female workforce participation rate in the Middle Eastern region especially within the GCC.
