Oman Participates in GCC Legislative Meeting in Riyadh

This meeting of the GCC Permanent Legislation Committee was held by the Sultanate of Oman, Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs. This meeting was held at GCC General Secretariat establishment in Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by Oman through the delegation being led by Dr Yahya Nasser Al Khusaibi, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs. Other issues on the meeting’s agenda called for reflection on the activity plan of the Permanent Legislation Committee and the results provided by expert committees working on legislation unification for the gulf cooperation council states.

People were active in discourses about pushing for cooperation to the GCC technical committees that are charged with prepare bill, enact legislation, and prepare conventions. Also on its agenda was the consideration of arguments regarding propositions of the GCC Secretariat General on the formation of a committee of experts and specialists. This committee would work hand in hand with departments of member states to assemble legislative principles.

Oman’s participation further proves its support for cooperation with other countries in the region and the synchronization of laws across the GCC. Such programs are invaluable for creating a single voice when it comes to issues concerning legislation in member nations and thus contributing to the enhanced cohesion of the Gulf area.
