Each of the two emirates of the UAE is now seamlessly linked in a unified electronic linkage for people of determination to obtain parking permits. The initiative spearheaded by Ministry of Community Development in conjunction with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination and other related entities is a big boost to the country’s digital enabler programme.
It makes the movement between the two emirates easier for the People of Determination as they are able to park their vehicles in the special parking slots provided in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai without the need for paper based perming. This integration is among the many developments that the UAE is keen on to deliver modern and advanced services to empower and enhance the quality of life of People of Determination. The electronic linkage system can be availed by all Persons with Disability regardless of paper or electronic identification obtained from Abu Dhabi, Dubai or any other emirates so long as they have valid permits.
The project also creates one database for parking permits and effectively increases collaboration between the government bodies and agencies in order to improve efficiency of the services provided. The latter serves the purpose of the UAE’s sustainability objectives and, therefore, guides people to act as responsible citizens.
This has demonstrated the leadership of the UAE in the policy formulation for the integration of people with disability into communities and their ability to visit places of their desire with ease. This marks a new dawn of technologically driven government services that will seek to transform the lives of all the special needs personae. The launching of this system proves the country’s commitment to human density and progressive growth.
