Dubai Crowned World’s Cleanest City for the Fifth Year in a Row

This latest Global Power City Index (GPCI) has revealed that Dubai has again emerged as the world’s cleanest city, for the fifth time in succession. Dana: This is the award given by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation Institute for Urban Strategies: This once again confirms Dubai’s status of the world’s most sustainable city in terms of urban environment.

Coming out atop 48 cities worldwide, Dubai scored a 100 per cent in the cleanliness parameter that is part of the environment pillar, an important sub-component constituting the index that measures city’s resilience. This is the true implication of Dubai Municipality working hand in hand, with the support of all private and public sectors, focusing on executing efficient integrated sustainable waste management strategies that are under the umbrella of Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041. The plan seeks to also minimize waste generation as a proportion of the overall waste by 18% in addition to the goal of nil landfill disposal throughout the fiscal year 2041.

His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, attributed this to the leadership of UAE and hard work of more than 3,230 employees of Municipality. The above mentioned teams supervise the daily cleaning works in the Road and Water departments that includes 2400 Kms of roads, investment zones and water canals with the assistance of 855 sophisticated vehicles.

Dubai Municipality’s implementation of EVs and Digital waste system in the emirate prolongs its stance in minimizing carbon emission and environmental conservation. Sustainability in the city is well-coordinated as a global best practice that has informed the city’s desire to be among the best global cities to live and work in.

Therefore, incorporating innovation, collaboration within the large community space and environmental preservation Dubai manage continually to build the model of future cities with relative happiness list for people living there.
