Empower Achieves Guinness World Record for Largest District Cooling Capacity at Business Bay

Empower a district cooling company in Dubai, has achieved a new Guinness record for the highest capacity in global DCS with its Business Bay project of 56, 646 TR. The world record was presented during the WETEX 2024 event held at Empower’s booth on the second day for the ceremony, where Bin Shafar accepted the certificate from a Guinness official in the presence of other shareholders.

Bin Shafar also said, “We are delighted that we have made it to the Guinness World Records list for having the highest cooling capacity for a district cooling system. This record achieving connected capacity of 241,272 Refrigeration Tons (RT) directly reflects our intention to design and deliver valuable and sustainable assets that have a positive impact on the environment and the returns on investment in the long term.”

He further noted that this accomplishment would further enhance the image of Dubai in going green and called for acknowledged of the city’s innovative effort in introducing modern district cooling solutions.

The Business Bay district cooling project is one of the world’s largest ranking its future capacity at 451,540 RT. At present, only four out of the nine planned district cooling plants are under construction and are serving 188 buildings in Business Bay, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Dubai Water Canal. The project also utilises cutting edge TES and makes use of TSE, as part of a long term sustainability agenda.
