Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the Dubai Metro will operate extended hours on Sunday, November 10, to support Dubai Ride 2024 — the region's largest community cycling event and part of the wider Dubai Fitness Challenge. Both the Red Line and Green Line will run from 3:00 AM to midnight, giving residents and visitors five additional hours of service on the day.
Dubai Metro Timings for November 10
On Dubai Ride day, both metro lines will operate for 21 continuous hours — far beyond the standard schedule. The extended window is designed to help cyclists and spectators reach event start points at Dubai Mall and Dubai World Trade Centre well before the first riders set off.
Routes open to the public at 5:00 AM, with the main ride starting at 6:15 AM and wrapping up by 8:00 AM. Getting to the start line by metro is the most stress-free option, and the early 3 AM service ensures even the most eager early risers are covered.
Free Careem Bike Rentals via Code DR24
Don't own a bike? RTA has partnered with Careem to offer free bike rentals for Dubai Ride 2024 participants. To claim the offer:
1. Open the Careem app and tap the Bike tile. 2. Sign up for a one-day pass using promo code DR24. 3. The code goes live from 2:00 AM on November 10.
The free rental applies from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM with no extra time charges. Bikes can be unlocked from any of 197 Careem Bike stations across Dubai, or collected from dedicated pop-up stations opening at 4:00 AM. This is the third year of the RTA–Careem partnership, and it is first-come, first-served — so get in early. Note that helmets are mandatory and bikes must be returned to stations after the ride.
Dubai Ride 2024 Route and Road Closures
Now in its fifth edition, Dubai Ride 2024 takes cyclists along a 12 km route on Sheikh Zayed Road, which will be temporarily closed to motor traffic to ensure rider safety. Participants must maintain a minimum speed of 30 km/h on the route.
Beyond the cycling community, the extended metro service also benefits anyone in Dubai on the weekend — whether attending the Defected Dubai festival, the Butterfly Carnival, or other entertainment events running late into the night.
Getting Around Dubai on November 10
The combination of extended Dubai Metro hours and free Careem Bike access makes November 10 one of the easiest days of the year to get around Dubai car-free. Whether you are racing at dawn or heading home from an evening event, the metro's extended timetable has you covered.
Dubai Ride 2024 is part of the annual Dubai Fitness Challenge, which encourages residents to commit to 30 minutes of exercise every day for 30 days. The event underlines Dubai's ongoing commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles through accessible public transport and community sport.
