Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed that the Dubai Metro will operate longer hours on Sunday 10 November due to the cycling event known as the Dubai Ride that is a portion of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Both the Red and Green Metro Lines will operate from 3:from 00 am to midnight on Sunday during which time residents and guests get an added privilege of five extra hours with this service.
The additional metro timings are also to easePTS of Dubai Ride event by enabling cyclists to arrive at the start points in Dubai Mall and Dubai World Trade Centre. The event kicks off early, with the first cyclists starting at 6:5am and thus the long hours of operation of the metro means that early birds and the participants will find it useful to take part in the exercise.
Even though the metro’s extension is primarily beneficial to cyclists, anyone coming from events around Dubai during the weekend and caught up late in entertainment events such as Defected Dubai or Butterfly Carnival will find it convenient.
Further, RTA and Careem have agreed in which Careem Bike will be available free of charge for the participants in Dubai Ride. These versatile options for free rentals, entering its third year, are implemented to increase the amount of participants in the fitness challenge even if they do not own a bike.
Dubai Ride will involve bike riding on some of the busy Dubai roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road that will be closed for some time in order to keep cyclist safe.
Besides, this initiative reflects both the ongoing work to advocate for the healthy lifestyle among the population as well as the availability of mobile transport facilities for large-scale population events in Dubai. Whether you have an early race meeting or evening entertainment planned, it’s going to be easier getting around the city this weekend with Dubai Metro’s extended transport hours.
