Emirates announced a second daily Airbus A380 flight on its Dubai-Bali route, operating as a seasonal service from September 1 through October 26, 2024. During this peak period, the Boeing 777 currently serving flight EK398/399 will be replaced by the larger A380, adding more than 2,600 weekly seats between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar (DPS).
Why Emirates Is Adding a Second Daily A380 to Bali
The move reflects surging travel demand on one of Emirates' fastest-growing Southeast Asian routes. The airline said the upgraded service will "attract more inbound traffic to Bali particularly during one of the peak travel seasons and interconnect travellers from Indonesia to Dubai and over 85 destinations worldwide through the Emirates' network."
The expansion follows the successful introduction of Emirates' first A380 service to Indonesia, which launched on June 1, 2023. Emirates has operated daily flights to Bali since 2015, building on its Jakarta operations that began in 1992, making it a long-established carrier in the Indonesian market.
What the Dual A380 Service Means for Passengers
Running two A380s daily on the Dubai-Bali route will deliver over 2,600 additional weekly seats during the peak season window. Travellers on both services will enjoy the A380's spacious two-class cabins, access to the exclusive Onboard Lounge, and Emirates' award-winning ice inflight entertainment system offering more than 6,500 channels of on-demand content.
The seasonal upgrade on EK398/399 gives travellers booking Bali trips in September and October a significant capacity boost at a time when the island typically sees its highest visitor numbers.
Emirates' Growing Footprint in Indonesia
This second daily A380 deployment underscores Emirates' confidence in the Dubai-Bali corridor. Indonesia is one of the airline's strategic growth markets in Southeast Asia, and the decision to double A380 capacity — even on a seasonal basis — signals strong underlying demand on the route.
Whether the second daily A380 service continues beyond October 26 will depend on load factors and demand through the peak season. Industry observers will be watching closely, given that Emirates has historically converted successful seasonal upgrades into permanent schedule changes.
