The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has launched the Abu Dhabi Food Security Data Platform — a comprehensive digital system designed to strengthen food security decision-making across the emirate. The platform was developed under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
What the Abu Dhabi Food Security Data Platform Does
The platform serves as an advanced electronic gateway providing accurate, real-time information on every segment of Abu Dhabi's agriculture and food sector — from agricultural production and distribution through to final consumption. It enables policymakers and stakeholders to analyze up-to-date data and generate reports that sharpen the effectiveness of food security policy.
The system also supports the rebuilding of an integrated food supply chain for Abu Dhabi, designed to be resilient against short-term food and biosecurity threats.
Key Features: 335 Indicators and 200+ Dashboards
Built in collaboration with 16 strategic partners from both the public and private sectors, the platform relies on advanced standards in data processing and management. Its comprehensive dashboard monitors more than 335 indicators across all major dimensions of food security, displayed through over 200 analytical dashboards with forecasting capability.
The platform tracks:
- Local agricultural production — crops and livestock - Trade, investment, and import dependency data - Strategic food reserve levels - National and global food loss and waste rates - Animal and plant health, pest control, and vaccination programmes - Anticipated investment opportunities and production forecasts
An automated warning system triggers alerts for changes in global or local food prices, production fluctuations, weather impacts, and disease outbreaks — enabling early action to prevent supply chain disruptions.
Leadership Commitment to Food Security
Speaking at the launch, ADAFSA Director-General Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri said the platform is "quite vital in enhancing innovation in food security," adding that giving users easy access to credible information drives the creation of new technologies to improve the agriculture and food industry across the emirate.
He confirmed the full backing of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the initiative, describing it as evidence of leadership's dedication to guaranteeing a secure and sustainable food supply for Abu Dhabi's population.
Supporting UAE Food Security Strategy
The platform aligns with ADAFSA's strategic objectives to create food abundance and security while facilitating sustainable agriculture. By integrating data from 16 partners and delivering flexible crisis-response tools for food emergencies, animal epidemics, and plant pest outbreaks, it positions Abu Dhabi to manage risks and plan proactively across the entire food value chain.
