Sheikh Abdullah Inaugurates New Kuwait Embassy in Abu Dhabi

The new Kuwait embassy in Abu Dhabi was officially launched by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE in the presence of Kuwait’s foreign minister, Abdullah Ali Al Yahya Monday. The Belgian Embassy is situated in the Embassies District, Al Ma’arid which also depicts the good commensurate and long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries.

This is perhaps as good a place as any to reveal many details of the ceremony of the official opening of the embassy, including the placing of the inscription on the commemorative plaque. Specifically, Sheikh Abdullah stressed on the importance of the new building in terms of the relations between the UAE and Kuwait, adding that he is looking forward for a closely cooperation in the future with Kuwait as a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Many dignitaries graced the occasion such as Jamal Al Ghunaim who is the Kuwait’s ambassador to UAE and several others including Gulf ambassadors, diplomats and other senior functionaries. The inauguration was within a context of a larger plan that was achieved in the five sessions of the UAE-Kuwaitian Joint Higher Committee headed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Mr. Al Yahya.

He took particular importance of the development of the bilateral non-oil trading, with actual figures in this sphere increasing in 2023 exceeding the mark of $ 12 billion. He was hopeful of diversifying the cooperation between the two nations in several areas of investment including industry, trade, renewable energy, transport & infrastructure.

In addition, his Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah also stressed the UAE’s stand for Kuwait over Al Durra Field and the ownership of the natural resources in the KSA/Kuwait divided submerged area aside from the Saudi-Kuwaiti Divided Zone.

The official ceremony ended with the signature of eight memorandum of understanding in the sectors of infrastructures, technologies, telecommunications, national funds, sport, culture, cyber defense and defense. Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah arranged a dinner in the honor of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister further showing an excellent diplomatic rapport between the Kuwait and Qatari kingdom.
