Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with telecoms giant e& to deliver free WiFi across all 43 of its bus and marine transport stations — giving commuters throughout the emirate a cost-free way to stay connected while travelling.
Free WiFi Now Active at All 43 RTA Stations
The rollout was announced on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and covers 21 public bus stations and 22 marine transport stations operated by the RTA. Passengers can connect their smartphones, tablets, and laptops while waiting or in transit, without spending a dirham on mobile data.
"We are constantly reviewing the service to deliver quality and certain connectivity in all transport stations," the RTA said in its announcement, adding that the initiative forms part of the authority's vision of delivering smooth digital services and enhancing passenger comfort.
Part of RTA's 360 Services Policy
The WiFi expansion builds directly on the RTA's 360 Services Policy, launched in March 2025, which targets fully digital, proactive, and integrated customer services that eliminate the need for in-person visits. Under that policy, services including journey planning, payments, and real-time transport updates are accessible via the Dubai Now app.
The phased rollout began with 29 stations earlier in 2025 before reaching all 43 by mid-June, demonstrating the RTA's commitment to completing its digital transformation on schedule.
Thousands of Daily Commuters to Benefit
The RTA expects thousands of commuters to use the free WiFi every day, improving productivity and overall satisfaction across the public transport network. The initiative aligns with Dubai's wider smart city ambitions — advancing the emirate's goal of embedding technology into every layer of its urban infrastructure.
The authority has indicated it will continue evaluating coverage quality and plans to expand signal range further in 2026, keeping Dubai's public transport network among the most digitally connected in the region.
