An Indian resident of Dubai has been honoured by Dubai Police after returning Dh100,000 in cash he discovered in the Al Barsha area. Swadesh Kumar received a formal certificate of appreciation from Al Barsha Police Station — recognition for an act of honesty that drew praise from senior officers across the force.
Ceremony Led by Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi
The recognition event at Al Barsha Police Station was led by Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi, Director of the station. Senior officers in attendance included Colonel Mostafa Mohamed Abdullah, Head of the Traffic Registration Section, and Lt. Col. Yasser Al Hashemi, Head of the Criminal Records Section.
Brigadier Al Suwaidi credited Kumar's conduct with directly supporting Dubai Police's strategic mission of building public trust. "Such acts of honesty go a long way in enhancing Dubai City's credit of being a safe and transparent city where everyone is a good citizen," he said.
Kumar: "It Was the Right Thing to Do"
Receiving the honour, Kumar kept his explanation brief. "It was the right thing to do, and I'm glad of the chance to stand for the principles cherished by the Dubai Police," he said.
He had handed the money directly to Al Barsha Police Station, ensuring it was returned safely to its rightful owner.
Dubai Police's Commitment to Rewarding Integrity
Dubai Police regularly recognise residents and expatriates who demonstrate exceptional honesty. By honouring Kumar publicly, the force reinforces that integrity and accountability are community values — not just personal ones.
Such ceremonies form part of a broader Dubai Police strategy to build cooperation between the public and law enforcement, and to signal that the emirate's reputation as a transparent city is built on the everyday actions of its residents.
