Dubai’s New Salik Toll Gates Set to Open Soon to Tackle Traffic Congestion

Dubai drivers, get ready for a smoother commute: It was likewise reported by Salik that two new toll gates will soon establish in order to control the traffic within the city. The Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road and the Al Safa South Toll Gate on Sheikh Zayed Road are clearly planned for the Sunday the twenty fourth of November.

These gates have just been launched in Dubai by the Roads and Transport Authority, with the intention of eliminating bottlenecks, thus encouraging the formation of other proper channels for transport within the city. The Business Bay Crossing gate is predicted to reduce the throughput on Al Khail Road by up to 15%, and also help regulate the flow of traffic on Al Rebat Street by up to 16%. On the other hand, the Al Safa South Gate plans to decrease the number of vehicles entered through the two roads by Al Meydan and Al Safa Streets, and exited on Sheikh Zayed Road, by 42%. Yes, in fact the traffic movement in this part of Sheikh Zayed Road, particularly betw But traffic movement in the total stretch spanning Financial Centre and Latifa Bint Hamdan Streets may be reduced by 4%.

For motorists, Salik gate crossing will cost Dhs 4 in every crossing. But those who cross both gates of Safa either the North or the South within one hour will be charged a fee similar to the policy for the Al Mamzar gates. This is the rationale why Salik and RTA for the efficient distribution of gates, to promote the utilization of other public transport like metro and buses for a synchronised roads plan.

Today seven toll gates are in work in Dubai, whereas, eight gates are under construction. Salik launched in 2007, will go on to collect toll in Dubai until 2071 under the deal signed with the RTA after it invested Dhs2.734 billion to develop new tolls. This year RTA suggested the idea of peak time possibility dynamic fees which will make fees at some points higher.

As Dubai Pension remain toll free for one more month on new gates will soon fit into new transport systems in the city.
