Dubai's new variable parking rates, managed by Parkin, took effect on April 4, 2025. The system charges more during peak commuting hours and less during quieter periods — a move designed to ease congestion in the city's busiest districts and improve traffic flow across high-demand zones.
How Peak and Off-Peak Hours Work
Dubai parking rates under the variable pricing model split the day into two charge levels. Peak hours run from 8 AM to 10 AM and again from 4 PM to 8 PM. Off-peak hours cover 10 AM to 4 PM and 8 PM to 10 PM — rates during these windows stay the same as before. There are no parking fees at all on Sundays and public holidays.

Why Dubai Introduced Variable Parking Pricing
Parkin introduced the variable rate model to reduce congestion around popular destinations and keep traffic moving smoothly — particularly near large events. The operator has also implemented a Dh25 per hour charge for parking spots close to exhibition centres during major festivals, conferences, and exhibitions, a policy that began in February 2025.
The broader shift to demand-based parking pricing aligns with Dubai's urban growth strategy, which aims to manage a rapidly expanding population and vehicle count through smarter infrastructure pricing rather than simply building more parking.
