Dubai Police have confirmed that the traditional Eid Al Adha cannon-firing ceremony will take place across seven locations this year as part of the annual "One Cannon – Seven Locations" initiative. The salutes are scheduled for around 5:45 AM local time, immediately after Eid prayers — keeping alive a practice that is deeply rooted in the UAE's cultural heritage.
Eid Al Adha 2024 Cannon-Firing Locations in Dubai
Dubai Police have announced the following seven sites across the emirate:
- Za'abeel Grand Mosque, Za'abeel - Eid Prayer Grounds, Umm Suqeim - Nad Al Hamar - Al Barsha - Nad Al Sheba - Al Baraha - Hatta
The locations span Dubai from its urban core to the historic Hatta enclave, ensuring the tradition is observed across the length of the emirate.
Dubai Police Ready for the Ceremony
Lt-Col Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, commander of the Dubai Police cannon team, confirmed that all preparations are in place. He emphasised that the Eid cannon is "a significant part of the UAE's social heritage, deeply rooted in the community's memory and consciousness."
All avenues have been fully prepared for this event, which carries enormous social and cultural value for residents and citizens alike.
A Heritage Tradition Beyond Eid Al Adha
The cannon-firing ceremony is not exclusive to Eid Al Adha. The same tradition marks the breaking of the fast each evening during Ramadan, and also signals the start of Eid Al Fitr — making it one of the most enduring and multi-purpose heritage rituals in the UAE calendar.
For anyone in Dubai on the morning of Eid Al Adha 2024, arriving at one of the seven designated locations before 5:45 AM is the best way to witness this iconic piece of living Emirati heritage.
