Boeing’s next generation Space Bins, which have been installed on new Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, are to be retrofitted onto 21 of flydubai’s Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It was also announced at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) where the airline is investing in improving passenger experience.
Having standard sized carry on bags stored vertically on their sides, the new overhead bins are able to hold six standard sized carry on bags per bin up from the current capacity of four. Travelers will have easier access to their luggage as well as have less need to check bags at the gate due to the lack of cabin space on offer.
“To date, we have continued to invest in product innovation and enhance the inflight experience of our passengers since 2009,” said Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President Inflight operations at flydubai. “Boeing’s larger Space Bins also give our guests added convenience and storage space like wide body aircraft.”
At the moment, flydubai has a fleet of 88 Boeing 737 while 59 of them are Boeing 737 MAX planes. With more than 130 destinations served on the airline’s network to destinations in 55 countries to continents like the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, GCC, and South East Asia, the airline boasts of the kind of service it offers.
And Vice President of Cabin, Modifications and Maintenance at Boeing Doug Backhus added: ‘Passengers are connecting the dots between bin capacity and the extra space they need for their carry on.’ “Partnering with flydubai helps us to deliver Space Bins capability to their established 737 MAX fleet.”
The retrofit is in line with flydubai’s operational and customer satisfaction ethos, ensuring more passengers that enjoy a seamless and comfortable journey.
