GDRFA Dubai Enhances Summer for 8,000 Workers with “Frij Refrigerator” Initiative

In collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, GDRFA Dubai supports workers with cold refreshments at construction sites

What To Know

  • Sensing the problem that the workers have to work in scorching sun in the summer months, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has come with what it has named the “Frij Refrigerator”.
  • Co-ordinated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, this program was designed to address improvement of working conditions through the supply of cold drinks and refreshments to over 8000 construction workers at their sites and factory outlets in Dubai.
  • Assistant Director General of GDRFA Dubai and Chairman of Permanent Committee for Labor affairs Major General Obaid Bin Suroor remarked the efforts are on to sustain effective communication with labor force which is key to the progress of the emirate.

Sensing the problem that the workers have to work in scorching sun in the summer months, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has come with what it has named the “Frij Refrigerator”. Co-ordinated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, this program was designed to address improvement of working conditions through the supply of cold drinks and refreshments to over 8000 construction workers at their sites and factory outlets in Dubai.

The initiative reflects GDRFA’s effectiveness to invest in improving workers’ work and living conditions to improve productivity for sustainable development. Thus, addressing the need of an appropriate workplace the initiative underscores the rightful place of workmen and their invaluable roles in society and Dubai’s development.

The Director-General of GDRFA Dubai also proudly said about the “Frij Refrigerator” that the project encompassing the spirit of the UAE people universally; encompassing humanitarianism and togetherness. It presents the nation’s commitment in improving the quality of life of the workers as well as their welfare.

Assistant Director General of GDRFA Dubai and Chairman of Permanent Committee for Labor affairs Major General Obaid Bin Suroor remarked the efforts are on to sustain effective communication with labor force which is key to the progress of the emirate. Bin Suroor said that this is in line with GDRFA’s continuous endeavor to provide the needed care and support to its employees and improve work environment for those who serve the cause of Dubai’s progress.

The Assistant Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Major General Dr. Ali Bin Ajif Al Zaabi added to this notion much emphasis has to be paid to the labor sector in order to elevate the standards of work and productivity. He said that such measures are in tune with the emirate’s vision of achieving higher levels of competitiveness and development in various sectors, as well as other national development objectives.

GDRFA Dubai employs many such measures including “Frij Refrigerator” and it demonstrates its commitment to the creation of a supportive and diversity-friendly workplace in the city’s rise and development.
