Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, visited Dubai International Airport's Terminal 3 on Saturday to assess the progress of ongoing upgrades — praising the UAE air travel industry's remarkable advancement at a moment of record-breaking passenger growth.
Sheikh Mohammed Inspects Dubai Airport Terminal 3 Upgrades
During the visit, officials briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the latest projects underway to enhance Terminal 3's facilities, departments, and services. He personally inspected daily operations across different sections of the airport and enquired about the amenities available to both departing and arriving passengers.
"Effective cultural relations are manifested in the design of airports, which allows Dubai International Airport to reflect our vision of the future," Sheikh Mohammed said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the teams working at the airport: "On behalf of the airport I would like to thank all the teams hard at work here for the excellent work showing Dubai as the preferred global destination to many of the travellers."
Record Passenger Numbers at DXB
The inspection comes as Dubai International Airport reached a new milestone. The airport recorded 23 million passengers during the first quarter of 2024 — an increase of 8.4% compared to Q1 2023, marking the best quarterly performance in the airport's history.
Terminal 3, the largest airport terminal in the world by floor space, serves as the primary hub for Emirates airline and has an annual passenger capacity of 43 million.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during the visit by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Board of Dubai Airports, who provided updates on the latest development projects at the terminal.
