H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has confirmed that every child registered for a government nursery in Sharjah will receive a place — addressing a shortfall that left 446 children without seats after the initial enrollment round.
1,781 Children Registered, 446 Seats Still Needed
Speaking on the "Direct Line" programme during a telephone interview with Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sheikh Sultan outlined the enrollment picture clearly: 1,781 children had registered for government nurseries across Sharjah, yet the existing capacity stood at 1,335 spots — leaving 446 children unplaced.
His Highness confirmed that new builds attached to existing nursery facilities would be opened that same month to accommodate all remaining registrants, ensuring no child is turned away.
European-Influenced Curriculum at Sharjah Nurseries
Beyond the enrollment numbers, Sheikh Sultan addressed the quality of education delivered in Sharjah's government nurseries. He described the curriculum as highly developed, drafted in close consultation with counterparts from Europe.
"The art of nurturing and learning in these nurseries is a calculated, scientific and educational process," His Highness said, underscoring that early childhood development in the emirate follows a structured, research-backed approach rather than informal childcare.
Why Early Education Matters to Sharjah's Leadership
Sheikh Sultan framed the nursery expansion as an expression of the emirate's care for its youngest residents and a practical support for working families.
"These nurseries play an important role in laying the foundation for children since childhood," he said. "We love our children and don't want them to sit idle at home without getting an education — especially when parents are working. For that reason, more nurseries are constructed and seats are secured for all parents who have registered their children."
The pledge means that Sharjah's government nursery enrollment for the current academic period will accommodate all 1,781 registered children, with the 446 additional seats delivered through newly opened wings within existing nursery buildings.
