His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved new official logos for three municipalities in Sharjah's Eastern Region — Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn — marking a significant step in the emirate's ongoing effort to modernise its administrative identity.
New Logos for Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn
The three new logos were unveiled during a live press briefing on the Direct Line program, broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television. The announcement confirmed official approval from the Ruler of Sharjah for the updated municipal branding for each of the three Eastern Region cities.
The logos reflect a desire to create complementary yet distinct identities for these municipalities — ones that are rooted in the cultural and historical character of each city. Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn each carry deep historical significance within the Emirate of Sharjah, and the updated branding is designed to honour that heritage while projecting a modern, cohesive civic image.
Part of a Broader Vision for Sharjah's Eastern Region
The new municipal logos are part of Sharjah's continuing vision to develop and improve the external image of its cities. The initiative also reflects the expansion of field administrative representation across the emirate under the leadership and guidance of the Ruler of Sharjah.
During the same broadcast, Sheikh Sultan issued additional directives, including instructing the Department of Planning and Survey to provide land plots for parks in neighbourhoods across the central region, and ordering a name change for Qalaa Mosque in Kalba — to be renamed Khor Kalba Mosque.
Why Municipal Branding Matters
A municipality's logo is more than a visual symbol — it represents civic identity, belonging, and institutional credibility. Updating the logos for Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn signals that these Eastern Region cities are being elevated in their administrative standing, with identities that better reflect both their heritage and their growing roles within the emirate.
The move aligns with Sharjah's track record of investing in the cultural and institutional development of its cities, particularly those in the eastern coastal and mountainous regions that distinguish the emirate's diverse geography.
