Fog in Dubai led to minor flight delays and one diversion at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Monday morning, as mist and reduced visibility affected parts of the UAE.

A spokesperson for Dubai Airports confirmed that while fog in Dubai impacted early morning operations, overall airport activity remained largely unaffected.

“We had one diversion due to fog. The weather is improving with no broader disruption at present. Operations at DXB remain normal,” the spokesperson said.

Fog in Dubai Prompts Sharjah Advisory

As fog in Dubai spread across neighbouring emirates, Sharjah International Airport issued a travel advisory.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Sharjah Airport urged passengers to contact their airlines directly to confirm flight status before heading to the airport, noting that weather conditions could affect schedules.

Why Is There Fog in Dubai?

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the fog in Dubai formed as humid conditions developed overnight across coastal and inland areas.

The NCM indicated that fog and mist may continue in parts of the UAE through Thursday. Temperatures are expected to rise from Tuesday, while overnight humidity may still create early morning visibility challenges.

Motorists Urged to Take Caution

Authorities also warned drivers to exercise caution during fog in Dubai and surrounding areas. Reduced visibility and damp road surfaces contributed to several incidents on major highways during the early hours.

For now, despite the fog in Dubai, operations at DXB remain normal aside from the single reported diversion. Travellers are advised to monitor airline updates as weather conditions continue to evolve across the country.
