Fog in Dubai caused one flight diversion at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Monday morning, as mist and reduced visibility blanketed parts of the UAE. Despite the disruption, a spokesperson for Dubai Airports confirmed that overall airport activity remained largely unaffected.
"We had one diversion due to fog. The weather is improving with no broader disruption at present. Operations at DXB remain normal," the spokesperson said.
Sharjah Airport Issues Travel Advisory Over UAE Fog
As fog in Dubai spread into neighbouring emirates, Sharjah International Airport issued a travel advisory warning passengers of potential schedule changes.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Sharjah Airport urged travellers to contact their airlines directly to confirm flight status before heading to the airport, noting that weather conditions could affect schedules.
Why Is There Fog in Dubai?
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the fog in Dubai formed as humid conditions developed overnight across coastal and inland areas of the UAE.
The NCM indicated that fog and mist may continue in parts of the country through Thursday. Temperatures are expected to rise from Tuesday, but overnight humidity may still produce early morning visibility challenges in the days ahead.
Motorists Warned to Drive Carefully
Authorities also urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads during the foggy conditions. Reduced visibility and damp road surfaces contributed to several incidents on major highways during the early morning hours.
Despite the fog in Dubai, operations at DXB remain normal aside from the single reported diversion. Travellers are advised to monitor airline updates as weather conditions continue to evolve across the UAE.
