This arrangement is in line with the smart mobility plan that Ajman has set and this is the first of its kind project in UAE.
The has given the bus users of Ajman the opportunity to pay for their rides through Visa contactless credit/debit cards or any salaried mobile device which supports contactless payment. Sami Ali Khamis AL Jallaf, the Executive Director of the Public Transport and Licensing Corporation at the Transport Authority – Ajman signed the agreement while Salima Gutieva, the Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for UAE also signed it. Omar Mohammed Lootah, Director-General of the Ajman Transport Authority and Michael Berner, Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring for Visa CEE ME & Africa signed the agreement.
Balancing the opportunities that the UAE has thought the process of its digitalization, Omar Mohammed Lootah pointed to the necessity to implement contactless payments while focusing, in particular, on the transport sector. Michael Berner said that he is looking forward to introducing Visa’s competence in contactless payments and mobility in Ajman.
