The Ajman Tourism Development Department has launched a promotional roadshow across China's key cities, targeting Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing in a push to deepen tourism ties and attract more Chinese visitors to the emirate. The tour runs from October 20 to October 26, 2024.
Ajman Tourism's China Roadshow: What's on the Agenda
The delegation is headed by H.E. Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Tourism Development Department. The roadshow is focused on building business relationships and signing Memorandums of Understanding with key stakeholders across China's tourism sector.
The tour also serves as a platform to showcase Ajman's latest tourist attractions and development projects — making the case for why the emirate is well positioned to welcome Chinese visitors looking for authentic Gulf experiences.
Strengthening Ties with China's Outbound Travel Market
Alhashmi underscored that the initiative is consistent with Ajman's broader tourism expansion strategy and its goals for strengthening international cooperation. He reaffirmed the department's commitment to enhancing Ajman's standing as a leading global tourist destination while supporting wider Ajman government objectives.
China has emerged as one of Ajman's top 10 source markets in 2024, with the emirate recording a notable increase in Chinese arrivals compared to the previous year. The roadshow is designed to build on that momentum by connecting directly with Chinese travel operators, agencies and industry leaders.
Why China Is a Priority Market for Ajman
The Ajman Tourism Development Department's focus on China reflects the wider Gulf region's push to diversify its international visitor base and reduce reliance on traditional Western source markets. Chinese outbound tourism has surged post-pandemic, and Gulf destinations including Ajman are actively competing for a share of that growth.
By establishing formal partnerships and MOUs through this roadshow, Ajman aims to secure dedicated promotional channels in the Chinese market, enhance airline and tour-package connectivity, and attract high-value leisure and cultural tourists to the emirate's growing hospitality sector.
