The Walt Disney Company and Miral the leading destination developer of Abu Dhabi joined forces to establish a Disney theme park resort landmark on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi making it Disney’s seventh global resort and its first Middle East presence. Disney launched its seventh worldwide theme park resort together with its inaugural Middle Eastern resort at Yas Island.
Located on Yas Island—the destination that draws millions worldwide—the Disney Abu Dhabi resort will unite Disney storytelling and characters with Abu Dhabi’s fascinating cultural heritage along with its futuristic structures and waterfront vistas.
Miral Chairman Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak declared that Abu Dhabi’s partnership with Disney represents an innovative celebration of imagination. Through this collaboration the entertainment project will influence future generations while revolutionizing family-friendly entertainment across the regional market.
Miral will handle full development but Disney Imagineers will lead creative design tasks alongside operational planning to establish a Disney-like experience which stays true to Emirati heritage. The project will present contemporary attractions alongside immersive entertainment while featuring themed hotels and limited-access dining and retail offerings which unite Disney’s heritage with Abu Dhabi’s creative framework.
Disney CEO Robert A. Iger announced that the new Abu Dhabi resort would present high-end character entertainment at one of the world’s major junctions through spectacular development.
According to Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro the upcoming resort will represent an industry-leading entertainment center that can capitalize on Yas Island’s marine environment to explore new creative opportunities.
The new Disney destination positioned in the UAE near one-third of the world’s population and serving as a global travel hub will draw millions while driving sustained tourism and economic expansion throughout the region for several decades.
