The enforcement division of Dubai Police has unveiled the firing sites for annual iftar cannons which date back to the 1960s. The Marsa Boulevard serves as the venue for residents to see the splendid cannon displays on March 9 and 10.
Time-Honored Tradition Continues
Dubai has kept the cannon firing tradition as a signal for iftar since the beginning of the 1960s. Two rounds emanate from the cannons during sunset to signal Iftar and the end of daily fasting while a single blast is used at two different occasions to announce both the commencement of Ramadan and Eid.
Iftar Cannon Locations Across Dubai
The eight strategic locations of Dubai Police this year received canon installations for scheduled activities.
Additional mobile cannons will service 17 distinctive parts of the emirate to increase resident visibility of this cultural tradition.
The police force of Dubai invites residents to enjoy the traditional practice safely. Every year during Ramadan this special event unites people from both local communities and visitors under a festive spirit focused on traditional celebrations.
