Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum posted a gripping Burj Khalifa BASE jump video on Instagram, thrilling his 16.8 million followers with footage from EXIT139 — a first-of-its-kind extreme sports spectacle held at the world's tallest tower.
The reel's caption read: "Exit 139 | 437 Jumps | 31 Athletes | 15 Nationalities #XDubai." It collected nearly 1 million views within the first hour of posting.
EXIT139: A Record-Breaking BASE Jump Event at Burj Khalifa
EXIT139 stands among the most ambitious BASE jumping events ever staged. Organised by XDubai in partnership with Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Emaar, and Skydive Dubai, the two-day event brought together 31 of the world's best BASE jumpers from 15 countries to leap from the Burj Khalifa's 139th floor.
A custom 12-metre platform — extending six metres beyond the 139th floor balcony — served as the launch point for a combined total of 437 jumps. Each jump demanded meticulous planning, technical precision, and, as Emirati athlete Ahmed Al Shehhi put it, "surpassing the mental barriers we've built around ourselves."
Dubai's Growing Status as an Extreme Sports Hub
EXIT139 builds on the legacy of the first Burj Khalifa BASE jump in 2014 and reflects Dubai's deliberate effort to position itself as a premier destination for adventure tourism. By staging such events against the city's iconic skyline, Dubai draws thrill-seeking visitors and elite athletes from around the world.
Sheikh Hamdan's promotion of extreme sports through his social media platforms continues to amplify Dubai's global reputation for bold, record-setting experiences.
