Dubai Police have unveiled the firing sites for the Ramadan 2025 iftar cannon — an annual tradition that has marked the end of the daily fast in the emirate since the 1960s. This year, eight strategic locations will host the cannons, with Marsa Boulevard near Dubai Festival City Mall serving as a premier public viewing spot on March 9 and 10.
A Time-Honored Tradition
Dubai has maintained the iftar cannon tradition since the early 1960s as a community signal for breaking the fast at sunset. Two cannon rounds are fired each evening to mark iftar, while a single blast is reserved for two special occasions: announcing the start of Ramadan and heralding the arrival of Eid.
Iftar Cannon Locations Across Dubai
Dubai Police's enforcement division has placed cannons at eight sites across the emirate for Ramadan 2025:
- Burj Khalifa - Expo City Dubai - DAMAC Hills - Uptown Mirdif (Union Properties) - Dubai Real Estate Corporation (Wasl) - JA Hatta Fort Hotel - Salt Camp – Kite Beach - Marsa Boulevard near Dubai Festival City Mall
Mobile Cannons to Reach 17 More Areas
Beyond the eight fixed sites, additional mobile cannons will serve 17 residential areas across the emirate. This expansion ensures that more Dubai residents and visitors can experience the cultural tradition close to home during the holy month.
A Community Celebration
Dubai Police invite all residents to enjoy the cannon displays safely. Every Ramadan, the tradition brings together local communities and visitors in a shared moment of cultural celebration — one of the most distinctive and enduring features of the holy month in Dubai.
