The UAE private sector will receive an official four-day break for Eid Al Fitr 2025. The moon-sighting committee confirmed on the evening of Saturday March 29 that the Eid crescent had been sighted, meaning Ramadan lasted 29 days.
With Eid Al Fitr confirmed to start on Sunday March 30, the private sector holiday runs from Sunday March 30 through Tuesday April 1, with work resuming on Thursday April 3. Employees who already have Saturday and Sunday off will benefit from a full five-day extended weekend.
Public Sector Eid Al Fitr 2025 Holiday
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed three consecutive days of Eid holiday for the public sector, covering 1 to 3 Shawwal 1446 AH. Government employees return to work on 4 Shawwal.
What Is Eid Al Fitr?
Eid Al Fitr is one of the two most significant celebrations in Islam. Every year, Muslims around the world observe Ramadan — the Islamic ninth month — through dawn-to-dusk fasting as one of the five pillars of the faith. Eid marks the joyful conclusion of that month-long period of devotion.
Celebrations begin with special congregational prayers, followed by family gatherings, acts of charity, and communal meals. In the UAE, residents typically spend the extended break attending Eid festivities, dining out, and enjoying quality time with family and friends.
