DEWA Expands EV Charging Network with Over 740 Points Across Dubai

To address its dedication to sustainable development, DEWA has launched a network of over 740 points for electric vehicles (EV) Green Charger throughout the Emirate. It boosts the steep rise of EVs within Dubai as it hit 34,970 in October of 2024. Charging stations can be easily accessed by residents using DEWA website and mobile application, and other 14 outlets.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said: “The EV Green Charger initiative, started in 2014, is vital to support the vision of making Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.” By developing disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we are to limit our emissions to 2050 net-zero level. As the UAE aims for half the country’s cars to be electric by 2050, DEWA is leading the charge with sustainable ideas in addressing new trends.

Recently, DEWA granted the first two Independent Charge Point Operator licenses to Tesla, and UAEV which is a major step in the privatisation of sustainable mobility. The existing legal requirements for the establishment of the infrastructure of EVs obvious the emirate’s commitment to amelioration of emissions as well as sustainable investments.

The public can access a range of charging solutions,; ultra-fast, fast, public and wall-box level, to suit their needs at the EV Green Charger stations. 16,828 numbers of customers have used the DEWA Green Charger services proving the fact that Dubai is already moving toward green mobility future.

With the ever increasing infrastructure and the many strategic developments, Dubai appears to be setting a great pace to other cities through it changes towards the sustainable future.
