Dubai has broken ground on DXV (Dubai International Vertiport), the city's first flying taxi vertiport, located next to Dubai International Airport (DXB). Set to open in 2026, the hub marks a pivotal step in the emirate's plan to make aerial mobility part of everyday public transport.
DXV will be the first of four vertiports built in Dubai during phase one. Additional stations are planned for Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. The aerial taxi service will be operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and integrated with existing public transport routes.
The flying taxis are built by Joby Aviation and will carry one pilot and four passengers at up to 200 mph. Each flight will last approximately 12 minutes — cutting the typical 45-minute car journey from DXB to downtown Dubai to a fraction of the time.
Sustainable and Convenient Travel
The aircraft produce zero emissions during flight. At the vertiport, passengers will enjoy streamlined boarding with minimal wait times and no extensive security screening. The service will be bookable through the Uber app at rates comparable to Uber Black.
High Capacity and Advanced Features
The facility spans 3,100 square metres and is designed to handle 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. Onsite aircraft charging stations will enable rapid turnarounds, keeping the service efficient and reliable.
A Bold Step Forward
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced the construction start on his official X account, reaffirming Dubai's commitment to pioneering urban innovation.
