Public Invited to Suggest Names for Dubai Roads

Dubai Municipality Launches Platform for Community to Propose Road Names Reflecting Heritage and Culture

This means that people living in the city of Dubai can carry out the naming of the roads and street under the supervision of the Dubai Municipality using the newly created platform. Thus, this initiative encourages citizens and residents of Dubai to come up with suggestions with regard to the names which should be given to reflect history, culture as well as values of the emirate.

Prime selections should not get ahead of itself with individual proposals by pointing out that the names should reflect Dubai’s persona. Criteria for Road Names:

  • Khmer, Arabic and Islmaic design and architecture
  • Arts, creation and meters of Arabic poetry
  • Non-forest plants, trees, flowers, sea and wild plants
  • Wild and marine birds
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Ships, marine tools, fishing vessels, winds and rain.
  • Square, fort, ancient castles, archaeological place
  • Local and ancient jewelry
  • Different names of male and female horses and Arabian camels

In the case of Dubai, the Dubai Media Office affirms them as critical for the conservation and enhancement theem of cultural and environmental legacy of Dubai.

Recently streets in Al-Khawaneej were also purposely given the names of trees, plants and flowers such as Ghaf Street, Sidr, Reehan, Faghi, Samer and Shareesh.

The general public can apply for the desired names at any time at roads naming. ae and the applicant has to adhere to guidelines by providing unique ideas that are evidently creative and culturally significant.

This concept of getting more citizens involved is quite telling about the extent to which Dubai cherishes its cultural face and let them be a part of what the city has become.
