VFS Global has issued an urgent fraud warning for UAE visa applicants, instructing them not to pay any fees to third parties who claim to represent the company. The advisory was released ahead of the summer holidays — a peak travel season and a well-known window for visa scams.
VFS Global Issues #DoNotFallForFraud Alert
VFS Global's #DoNotFallForFraud campaign targets a growing wave of imposters who falsely claim affiliation with the global visa services company in order to charge applicants money. Fraudsters are approaching visa seekers through social media, email, SMS, and phone calls, sometimes delivering fake appointment confirmations to victims who then arrive at VFS centres only to be turned away.
The company was clear: booking an appointment on the official website, vfsglobal.com, carries no additional charge. Appointment slots are released in real time on a first-come, first-served basis, and their availability is determined by the respective embassies and consulates — not by VFS Global or any third party.
What Scammers Are Doing
According to VFS Global, fraudulent actors are running several overlapping schemes:
- Impersonating VFS staff or partners to collect fees for appointment scheduling - Creating fake websites that mimic VFS Global's branding and logo - Soliciting personal information via social media platforms, email, or unsolicited calls - Offering fake job placements and immigration vacancies in exchange for upfront cash
VFS Global stressed that it has no affiliation with any agents, travel companies, typing offices, or flight-booking intermediaries in the UAE. The company will not be responsible for fees paid to such agents, nor for any personal data shared with them.
How to Verify You Are Dealing with VFS Global
VFS Global advises all applicants to:
- Use only www.vfsglobal.com for applications and appointment booking - Double-check website URLs and confirm the official VFS Global logo is present - Never share passport details, personal information, or payment with unverified callers or websites - Disregard any communication that arrives via social media direct message, unofficial email addresses, or cold calls
The company emphasised that it does not solicit personal details through any of those channels unless contact is initiated by a verified, traceable individual.
Optional Services Do Not Speed Up Your Visa
VFS Global also clarified that premium optional services — such as Visa At Your Door and the Premium Lounge — do not shorten visa processing times. Those decisions rest entirely with the government of the relevant embassy or consulate. VFS Global is a processing intermediary; it does not control visa rules, eligibility requirements, or decision timelines.
Fraud Beyond Visa Appointments
The company extended its warning to cover immigration and job-placement fraud. Scammers posing as VFS Global representatives have offered fake overseas employment or immigration packages in return for payment. VFS Global does not operate in job placement or immigration advisory services in any form, and any such offer made in its name is fraudulent.
Anyone who suspects fraud is encouraged to report it directly through the official VFS Global website and to avoid further contact with the suspected scammer.
